The Seattle Seahawks may have missed the playoffs in 2023, but that doesn’t mean they don’t feel good about what they accomplished. Seattle went 9-8 on the year and saw Geno Smith take command of the offense in a very unexpected way.
However, the Seahawks are going to have to overcome tough defensive news for at least the start of the 2024 season.
Seattle Seahawks Get Sobering Update On Top Defender
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Seattle’s top edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu suffered a sprained MCL and is now expected to miss anywhere between two and six weeks, per source.
In a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Seattle Seahawks acquired outside linebacker Trevis Gipson, the team announced Monday.
Uchenna Nwosu, Seattle’s best edge rusher, suffered a knee injury on the first drive of Saturday’s preseason finale against Cleveland.
After Browns guard Wyatt Teller hit Nwosu’s left knee on a low block, he jogged off the field, spent several minutes in the injury tent, and got an ice wrap. After the game, Macdonald said Nwosu would undergo testing to determine the extent of the injury on Sunday.
As well as losing Nwosu for the first four games (if he is placed on IR) the Seahawks also parted ways with Darrell Taylor. He was traded to the Chicago Bears on Friday for a sixth-round pick in 2025.
When fans saw Nwosu’s update, they weren’t happy:
Suspend Wyatt teller immediately

Which more than likely means he has a grade II MCL sprain (partial tear)
Likely he will be back in 4-6 weeks to reduce risk of further injury
