53 years later since that celebratory day, the Jets have yet to return to the SUPERBOWL. The jets have made the playoffs 6 times in the 21st century, in the last decade not even one lone playoff appearance. 4 miserable seasons were coached by Todd Bowles . and 2 horrific seasons under Adam Gase who reportedly was not liked by players and as a side note was a poor coach in Miami. And last season under Robert Saleh who will be returning this season. We always talk about the evaluation of coaches. When the talent doesn’t perform or live up to standards something gets invisible it’s your fault finger. Live the golden state warriors while Steve Kerr is beloved and believed to be a great coach, I’m Almost convinced with the talent they have coaching WASNT even necessary. Go out there and play Steve’s few words before the warriors stormed the court, Steph curry putting up godly numbers, practically breaking a record every game. The 2021 season was all but kind to the Jets the team finished 4-13 entering April’s festival of future dreams once again towards the top of the board with once again another chance to find their superstar. The 4 jets win featured 2 great upsets. Stunning the titans at home in overtime, and edging out super bowl participants the Cincinnati Bengals on Halloween who ironically sported their black and orange uniforms as it appeared Halloween started early with the jet’s frightening Bengals sports bettors with an upset loss. Their other 2 wins came to the jaguars and Texans 2 teams who also had miserable 2021 campaigns. Other than that it was a season of misery losing some closed games and a lot of blowouts as for a vast majority of the season the jets struggled to put up points. They were winless against their division. And in all reality, we’re very close to a winless season never winning any of their four wins by more than a touchdown. They played the AFC South last season and shockingly they went 3-1 against 3/4 of the jet’s season wins as a side note. The misery of divisional opponents is most likely to continue. The patriots always dominate the jets regardless of their QB. The dolphins tend to play the jets well, always a mixed bag but with off-season additions and a slowly improved team, a 0-2 against the dolphins is possible. Last but not least the Bills. The bills are favored to win the SUPERBOWL and the jets are desperate just for a season of somewhat slight hope. I’ll let you call the shots on that one
Modern-day! Zach Wilson and where it stands.
Things couldn’t gotten much worse for Mr Wilson in his rookie season , he finished with 2334 yds ranked 30th , just 9 tds to 11 ints . And a qbr rating of a miserable .28.2. Shockingly the jets added Corey davis , michael carter , Braxton berrios , and Elijah Moore the team all solid talent who did put up some numbers but nothing worth tremendous notice , although many jets fans see a spark in Braxton berrios and he could be a bigger factor this coming season . the Jets divison to take on this year is the Afc north which won’t do them any favors . A game against Cleveland most likely without deshaun watson as the NFL continues to debate his suspension length . One with the Steelers who always play hard , the ravens, and bengals . They will also play the Nfc north which is more of a question mark with them . The bears lions and Vikings all beatable . Green Bay probably not .
DRAFT
Cb Ahmad Gardner , wr Garrett Wilson and edge rusher Jeremanie Johnson are 3 of the jets first picks , all in the first round .a lethal first round for the jets addressing 3 key needs . The rest of their draft included all offensive positions and their final pick a defensive end . Although the jets final pick came in the 4th round . They certainly loaded up their plate in the first 4 rounds and arguably had the best draft in the Nfl amoung all teams . Desperately needed for a franchise in the biggest depression since 1929
And Now ?
With a draft anyone could dream of joe Douglas that alone may have even doubled his salary. Incoming Zach Wilson’s sophomore season , Robert salehs 2nd year as head coach , a draft loaded with talent and I. Honest eyes at least 2 of the picks bound to be stars.Jets fans mostly like no longer wearing paper bags to cover disappointment , ticket sales maybe up, maybe jersey sales too .
The reality is jets fans will tell you I’ll believe it when I see it . Jets fans should be optimistic , but also realistic .
