Multiple reports have indicated that PGA Tour golfer Scottie Scheffler had his charges officially dropped. ESPN’s senior NFL reporter, Adan Schefter, helped disperse the news on Wednesday afternoon. Some events seem to transcend rigid sports reporting lines.
Scottie Scheffler was arrested on March 17

The NFL world was captured by the events that took place in the early morning of March 17, when Scheffler was on his way to the second round of the PGA Championship at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.
Per an ESPN report, Scheffler was arrested on alleged charges of assault of a police officer:
Scheffler faces charges of second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic. The assault charge is a felony; the others are misdemeanors.
Per the police report, an officer’s $80 pants were ruined.
Per a post with a video of the incident was released by Joe Pompliano. The video appeared to show the incident was an “overreaction”:
The Scottie Scheffler arrest video looks like a total overreaction. The camera is across the street, but you can see Scheffler turn left into Valhalla Golf Club. It looks like the police officer runs alongside the car, jumps on the driverside door, and then arrests him. Crazy.

Bryan Gillis, the officer involved in the incident, received “corrective action” for failing to turn in his body camera.
NFL reporter drops scoop on charges being dropped

Per Schefter, the Charges have been dropped against Scheffler. That will end the “legal saga” surrounding Scheffler’s incident with police at the PGA Championship:
Charges are being dropped against Scottie Scheffler, ending a legal saga that began with images of the world’s top male golfer being arrested and handcuffed in Louisville, Kentucky, during the PGA Championship.
NFL world has talked about police brutality for years via Colin Kaepernick

Schefter dipped into the PGA world with this latest report, but the NFL has discussed police brutality for several years–even if it tried not to. Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was kicked out of the league for his activist stance of taking a knee before NFL games.
Kaepernick warned US citizens about how those in power, specifically police officers, can abuse the system. The police officer responding to Scheffler appeared to embellish the police report of his interaction with Scheffler. How many other citizens weren’t given the benefit of the doubt because of their status or because a traffic camera didn’t record their incident?
