Saquon Barkley was the hero of the Philadelphia Eagles’ win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. Barkley ran for 109 yards and scored three total touchdowns in the Eagles’ win in Brazil. One week later, Barkley was the villain at the end of the Eagles’ 22-21 loss at home on Monday Night Football.
Barkley started out fine enough against the Atlanta Falcons. He would finish with 22 carries for 95 yards. He added four catches for 21 yards. He appeared to score a touchdown, but on replay, officials ruled his knee was down before the ball entered the end zone.

However, Monday night was about the play Barkley didn’t make. On the Eagles’ penultimate drive, Barkley dropped a crucial catch on a third-and-three from the Atlanta 10-yard line.

If he caught the ball, the Eagles would have converted a first down and Phone would be 2-0. The drop meant the Falcons had 1:39 to drive down the field after the Eagles kicked a field goal on fourth down. The Falcons drove for a game-winning touchdown in one minute and five seconds.
Jalen Hurts would throw an interception on the Eagles’ final drive.

The call to throw on Third-and-three was controversial. Still, Barkley needed to execute the play. Fans mocked Barkley for blowing another game near the goal line in Philadelphia.
