Like Dallas Cowboys’ Micah Parsons and Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett, Nick Bosa is projected to be among the top players who’ll make a lot of sacks next season. The thing is, the San Francisco 49ers star is included in the top five according to an NFL analysis done by ESPN.
Bosa, the second overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, has emerged as one of the league’s premier defensive linemen. After a standout college career at Ohio State, he joined the San Francisco 49ers and made an immediate impact.
In his rookie season, Bosa was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year after recording 47 tackles, nine sacks, and two forced fumbles. He helped the 49ers reach Super Bowl LIV, showcasing his dominant pass-rushing abilities.
Bosa continued to excel in the following seasons, earning three consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2019 to 2021. In 2022, he had a breakout year, being named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year and First-team All-Pro after recording 18.5 sacks, 48 tackles, and 4 forced fumbles.
San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa Projected To Be Among Players With Most Sacks Ahead of 2024 Season
Bosa has been projected to perform a lot of sacks ahead of the upcoming season. This was the projection made in an NFL analysis by Seth Walder for ESPN.
“Projected 2024 sacks: 11.4
ESPN BET over/under: 11.5
2023 sack total: 10.5Bosa is a contrast to the two players at the top of this list, as has never flourished in pass rush win rate the way Parsons and Garrett have — his 18% figure ranked 26th among players at all positions last season.
But Bosa compiled 18.5 sacks in 2022 and is playing on one of the best teams in football, which works in his favor. However, San Francisco has the least favorable opposing QB schedule in the league when it comes to times sacked, which hinders Bosa’s forecast,” Walder wrote.
Bosa’s combination of size, strength, and technique has made him one of the most disruptive defensive players in the league. He has proven to be a game-changer for the 49ers, consistently pressuring opposing quarterbacks and making a significant impact on the team’s defensive success.
At just 26 years old, Bosa is poised to continue his dominance in the NFL for years to come, cementing his status as one of the league’s elite defensive talents. If all goes well with ESPN’s prediction, the 49ers star will truly stand out on the field.
