San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot in an attempted robbery on Saturday afternoon. The incident took place at Union Square in San Francisco. Pearsall was on his way to an autograph signing event when a person approached him with a gun and tried to take the Rolex watch he was wearing.
As Pearsall and the suspect struggled over the gun, both were shot.
San Francisco 49ers Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel Gives an Update on Ricky Pearsall
After rumors and reports regarding Pearsall being the victim of a shooting swirled around on social media, there were many who were concerned about the rookie’s well-being as very few details were known right away.
Thankfully, one of Pearsall’s teammates, fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel, let the online world know that the 49ers newest pass catcher is okay:

Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team also provided an update: “Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest during a robbery attempt over a Rolex watch while on his way to an autograph signing, per the San Francisco Police Department. There was a struggle for the gun, and both Pearsall and the suspect were shot. Both are in stable condition.”
As one can see from Meirov’s update, Pearsall is in stable condition. He will be okay, though just how long he will be out is not yet known.
The Mayor of San Francisco Released a Statement on the Ricky Pearsall Shooting
London Breed, the Mayor of San Francisco, released the following statement:
“This afternoon, there was an attempted robbery in Union Square involving San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and he was shot. SFPD was on scene immediately and an arrest of the shooter was made. My thoughts are with Ricky and his family at this time. We will provide more updates, including on his condition, as I receive them.”
Fortunately, the shooter is in custody and Pearsall will be alright. Hopefully he will not be out of commission for very long.
