Even though he has only played two seasons in the NFL, San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy is trending towards a successful run in the years to come. For fullback Kyle Juszczyk, his development has led to an impressive evolution for the quarterback.
Throughout his college career at Iowa State, Purdy was a standout performer. He was a two-time First-team All-Big 12 selection and led the Cyclones to their highest national ranking in school history in 2020. He was considered a three-star recruit coming out of high school in Arizona.
Brock Purdy was then drafted by the 49ers in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Despite being the final pick, the San Francisco quarterback has had a remarkable NFL career so far.
In his rookie season, Purdy took over as the starting quarterback after injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. He led the 49ers to a division title and an NFC Championship game appearance, winning all five regular season games he started.
During the 2023 season, Purdy continued to excel as the 49ers’ starting QB. He led the league in several passing categories and guided the team to another division title and a Super Bowl LVIII appearance. He also set the franchise’s single-season passing yards record and earned his first Pro Bowl nomination.

Despite Purdy not getting the respect he deserves, there are still people who believe in what he can do on the field. 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk, for instance, revealed the quarterback’s impressive trait in an article written by DJ Siddiqi for Responsible Gambling.
“I’ve just been so impressed with what a leader he is,” says Juszczyk. “I think that’s been a big development in the offseason is the leadership of Brock. Guys have so much respect for what he’s done. On the field, he’s had so much success. But the way he carries himself, he commands respect,” Siddiqi wrote.
Purdy’s career has been quite a revelation so far. Despite his rapid ascent to prominence, the quarterback has remained grounded and humble throughout his time in the league. His soft-spoken demeanor and matter-of-fact approach have endeared him to both his teammates and the 49ers faithful.
It remains to be seen how far Purdy will go when the new season starts. If he exceeds what the 49ers accomplished last year, expect more people to gravitate towards the quarterback down the line.
