CeeDee Lamb’s new contract from the Dallas Cowboys has set the precedent for other wide receivers in the NFL. Brandon Aiyuk, for instance, is also set for a new deal from the San Francisco 49ers and it looks to be a promising.
Lamb has officially ended his holdout by agreeing to a multi-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys, securing his future with the team. The deal, which is reportedly worth up to $136 million over four years, includes a $38 million signing bonus and $100 million guaranteed. This agreement comes just before the Cowboys’ first official practice of training camp, allowing Lamb to rejoin his teammates as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Lamb, a two-time All-Pro receiver, expressed his desire to stay with the Cowboys, emphasizing his commitment to winning alongside his teammates. The 25-year-old former first-round pick has made a significant impact since joining the league, accumulating over 3,300 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in his first three seasons. His performance in 2023 was particularly noteworthy, as he set career highs with 1,749 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
With Lamb’s contract finalized, the Cowboys can focus on their offensive strategy, which has been bolstered by the addition of Brandin Cooks. The team aims to maintain a strong receiving corps as they look to improve upon last season. Lamb’s return is crucial, especially given his explosive playmaking ability and leadership on the field. As he prepares for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns, expectations are high for Lamb to continue his ascent as one of the top wide receivers in the NFL.
Brandon Aiyuk’s Projected Next Contract From San Francisco 49ers Revealed
Lamb’s new contract has set a good precedent for wide receivers in the league. According to an NFL analysis by Andrew Peters for Bleacher Report, this move can lead to a positive development for Aiyuk’s next contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
“Aiyuk, who has participated in a hold-in and requested a trade, was projected by Spotrac to get a four-year, $104 million extension, whether that be from San Francisco or someone else. Chase’s projection from Spotrac is slightly higher than that at four years and $120 million.”
“Aiyuk, who is 26, a year older than Lamb, had 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last year, leading the 49ers receiving room on the way to a Super Bowl appearance. Aiyuk’s lofty projected contract could be a problem for San Francisco, which already has high contract obligations on both offense and defense and will have to pay quarterback Brock Purdy next offseason,” Peters wrote.
With Aiyuk seeking around $30 million annually, the stakes are high following his impressive All-Pro season. As negotiations continue, fans hope for a swift resolution to ensure Aiyuk’s future with the 49ers.
It remains to be seen whether the 49ers can give Aiyuk a deal within the vicinity of Lamb’s new contract. In any case, the wide receiver will be worth a big deal once his extension kicks in.
