San Francisco 49ers fans are excited for the upcoming 2024-25 season to see if they finally win the big one next year. While there is legitimate hype over the team, fantasy football managers are warned by ESPN against picking wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk in a draft for a good reason.
Aiyuk has officially ended his contract holdout by agreeing to a new deal with the 49ers. The wide receiver’s agreement comes after negotiations that had raised concerns among fans and team officials. The wide receiver’s new contract reflects his importance to the 49ers’ offense, particularly as they aim for a strong showing in the upcoming season.
Previously, Aiyuk had been seeking a more lucrative contract, and his absence from training camp prompted discussions about his future with the team. The 49ers recognized his contributions, especially after a breakout season where he established himself as a key target in the passing game.
With standout performances and growing chemistry with quarterback Brock Purdy, The WR’s presence is crucial for the team’s success. If all goes well, the pair can help lead San Francisco back to the Super Bowl.
ESPN Advises Fantasy Football Managers Not to Draft San Francisco 49ers’ Brandon Aiyuk
Even with his new deal from the 49ers, there’s still a good reason why Aiyuk isn’t a choice for fantasy football managers. This reason is explored in an analysis by Erick Karabell for ESPN.

“49ers starter Brandon Aiyuk is not happy, which he has made mighty clear this offseason. It isn’t unusual for a veteran wide receiver to demand a new contract, or a trade, and sometimes it all works out.
We couldn’t possibly bypass all these unhappy players. In this situation, however, with the depth of offensive stars, Aiyuk suddenly is more of a risk. Give me the Deebo Samuel Sr. shares instead,” Karabell wrote.
The new deal not only secures the WR’s future with the 49ers but also strengthens their roster as they prepare for a challenging season in the highly competitive NFC West. However, other options on the roster may prove to be better as the season progresses.
As the 49ers look to build on their recent successes, Aiyuk’s commitment is a positive development. His ability to stretch the field and make crucial plays will be vital as San Francisco aims for playoff contention. Fantasy football managers, on the other hand, should steer clear of the wide receiver as there’s still a risk to his performance during the first stretch of the new season.
