Why Jennings Excelled in Week 3
Jennings stepped up for a banged-up 49ers receiving corp. Primarily due to Deebo Samuel’s and George Kittle’s injuries. Setting the stage for Jauan Jennings to get the ‘start’. He took full advantage of a Rams secondary, arguably, one of the worst in the league. But this type of performance makes one wonder about sustainability, especially since Jennings is usually the 4th/5th option on the 49ers’ offense.

Should You Start Him in Week 4?
Many fantasy managers are split on Jennings’ outlook. Here are some key points to consider:
- If Deebo and Kittle are Out: Jennings becomes an intriguing option, as he’s likely to receive a significant target share again. He’s proven that he can step up in the absence of the 49ers’ main weapons, making him a decent flex option or even a WR3 in deeper leagues.
- If Deebo or Kittle Returns: Jennings’ value drops, but he could still be worth starting. If only one returns, Jennings could still be in line for targets, especially against a New England Patriots secondary that hasn’t looked intimidating so far.
- If Both Are Back: Jennings’ role diminishes, and he’s more of a risky start. He’ll likely fall back into a supporting role behind Samuel, Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk.
That makes Jennings a flex play this week, especially in case the 49ers’ top targets are out of action once more. Even if he can’t get close to his Week 3 performance, the potential for a lot of targets makes him a viable starter if you need help in that area. You just have to manage your expectations and follow any changes in injury reports leading up to game time.
