The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their first regular season matchup of 2024 on Monday Night Football against the New York Jets. With superstars all over the field for both squads, the game should be one of the best in week one. However, the 49ers placed star running back Christian McCaffrey on their injury report on Thursday with a calf/Achilles injury.
San Francisco 49ers PLace McCaffrey On IR
San Francisco has put McCaffrey on their injury report before their first game of the season after he suffered a calf strain at the beginning of the preseason, causing him to sit out up until now. He was able to return to practice this week, however, he was limited by the team to ensure that he would be good to go by Monday night.

Christian McCaffrey Career
While the expectation is that the superstar will be available to play in this week’s game, the 49ers are playing it safe by keeping him limited in practice to prevent further damage. McCaffrey is coming off one of his best career seasons, rushing for 1,459 yards and 14 touchdowns, and catching 67 passes for 564 yards and seven touchdowns. He has had injury problems in the past, but he has still been one of if not the best running backs in the entire league.
Will McCaffrey Be Good To Go?
San Francisco 49ers have been saying that McCaffrey will be available for the team’s first game of the year, and that is still the expectation throughout the clubhouse. We may see him playing limited snaps come Monday night to further ensure he will be good to go for the remainder of the year, but he should still make a big impact for the 49ers offense.
Do you think McCaffrey will be able to play a full game this week, or will he have limited snaps in the backfield to continue his recovery?
