San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is potentially on the move this offseason. There is a great chance that the 49ers wide receiver is not on the roster next season and will be with a different team.
There is no question that there will be a market for the star wide receiver. Samuel last season with San Francisco caught 51 passes for 670 yards receiving and three touchdowns, along with averaging 13.1 yards per catch. He also rushed for 136 yards on 42 carries and one touchdown. Deebo Samuel also averaged 3.2 yards per carry.
Noah Strackbein Of Sports Illustrated Reports That the Pittsburgh Steelers Are In Play For San Francisco 49ers Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel
Noah Strackbein of sportsillustrated.com wrote about what the potential plans for the Pittsburgh Steelers are this offseason at the wide receiver position. There is a chance that Pittsburgh could trade wide receiver George Pickens, but it would be wise for them to keep him.
However, there is a chance that Samuel could be on the Steelers’ roster next season. Strackbein said:
“According to a source from another NFL team, Samuel and his agent Tory Dandy are “absolutely” going to attempt to engage with the Steelers, making them an immediate candidate if they share the same interest.
The Steelers spent most of last summer trying to land Samuel’s running mate, Brandon Aiyuk, in a deal from San Francisco. Instead, Aiyuk signed an extension with the 49ers, leaving Pittsburgh high and dry heading into the season.
During those calls, it was reported that Pittsburgh asked about Samuel and his availability, trying to discuss a trade for him instead.”
There is no doubt that the Steelers are going to explore the wide receiver market. The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers will be two teams that will potentially take a look at him. Samuel is 29 years old and it appears as if he will not fit into the 49ers’ long-term plans.
Samuel One Year Left On the Contract
With him having one more year left on his contract, the 49ers want to move Samuel and get something back for him instead of losing him for nothing. The Pittsburgh Steelers need another playmaker in its offense for next season. Deebo Samuel is potentially going from Brock Purdy at quarterback to an unknown at the position for Pittsburgh. This will be a story worth watching also.
