REPORT: The San Francisco 49ers Suddenly Released an Offensive Weapon 2 Months After Signing Him

The San Francisco 49ers have tried to find a reliable tight end to complement George Kittle throughout his tenure in the NFL but to no avail. To make matters worse, their TE2 and TE3, Charlie Woerner and Ross Dwelley departed to the Atlanta Falcons. They also failed to sign Brock Wright after the Lions matched the 49ers’ offer sheet.

However, the 49ers signed a possible complement for Kittle a few months ago.

Willis, their 7th-round pick from 2023, enters his second year. He didn’t play much as a rookie, failing to register a statistic in seven games and 48 offensive snaps. He is their TE3.

Finally, Latu, their 3rd-round pick from 2023, enters his second year. He missed the entire 2023 season due to a meniscus injury. He is their TE4.
