Injuries have plagued Christian McCaffrey and the San Francisco 49ers throughout the 2024 regular season. McCaffrey missed the first eight games of the season because of Achilles tendonitis in both of his Achilles. The 49ers activated him off injured reserve for Week 10 and started the next four games, as the team went 1-3 with him back in the lineup.
Unfortunately, the San Francisco 49ers All-Pro suffered another injury
Christian McCaffrey suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of their Sunday Night Football loss to the Buffalo Bills after getting tripped up by safety Taylor Rapp, who made a shoestring tackle. A few plays later, McCaffrey took a pitch to the right and opted to slide once he planted his feet because something didn’t feel right. He limped off the field and went directly into the medical tent, where he later went to the locker room for further examination. The 49ers ruled him out during halftime, and he finished the night with 53 rushing yards on seven carries.

He received a brutal injury diagnosis
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Christian McCaffrey suffered a significant PCL injury that will sideline him for the next six weeks. The 49ers will place him on injured reserve, and he will miss the rest of the regular season. Since their chances of making the playoffs are slim to none, he will more than likely be shut down for the rest of the season.
Kyle Shanahan said that Christian McCaffrey did injure his PCL and it is a 6-week recovery. His season now looks like it’s over.
49ers RB Jordan Mason suffered an ankle injury and also is being placed on injured reserve.

The former Offensive Player of the Year will finish his 2024 campaign with 202 rushing yards on 50 carries.
He wasn’t the only RB injured
Leading rusher Jordan Mason suffered a high ankle sprain. Similar to McCaffrey, the 49ers will place Mason on injured reserve. He will miss at least the next four games and potentially Week 18 if they are officially eliminated from playoff contention. He currently has 789 rushing yards on 153 carries and three touchdowns in 12 games.
