The Indianapolis Colts have made their first move in free agency. Defensive End Samson Ebukam signed a 3-year contract worth $27 million, according to NFL Reporter Adam Schefter. Reporter Jeremy Fowler also confirmed the signing.
Ebukam will receive $11 million this upcoming season. Ebukam recorded 21 tackles, 5 sacks, and a forced fumble in 2022. Ebukam has recorded 224 tackles, 23.5 sacks, 8 forced fumbles, and 5 fumble recoveries.
Samson Ebukam joins a strong defensive line and should mesh well in Indianapolis. Indy’s defensive line recorded 44 sacks last season.
The Colts value athletic defensive linemen who can attack quarterbacks. Ebukam can help Indy’s defensive line create more pressure and make quarterbacks uncomfortable. Ebukam can also help Indy’s young pass rushers. Pass rushers Kwity Paye and Dayo Odeyingbo.
Ebukam has made big plays during his career. Ebukam was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams and played with Aaron Donald. Ebukam spent 2021 and 2022 with the San Francisco 49ers.
