The Missouri Tigers are looking to be a force in the Southeastern Conference and Week 1 went as well as expected. However, quarterback Sam Horn left the game with an injury on the first play of the game and we have received a bit of an update on his health. Let’s take a closer look into what happened and what it means for Sam Horn going forward.
Sam Horn Injury Update After Missouri’s Week 1 Victory

Sam Horn entered the fall looking to compete for the starting quarterback position for the Missouri Tigers as he competed with former Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Beau Pribula for the start, but lost the competition. However, midway through the first quarter of the opening game against the Central Arkansas Bears, coach Eli Drinkwitz called a wildcat formation with Horn under center and Pribeau as a wide receiver.
The play was ran as a quarterback draw, and Sam Horn ran up the middle for six yards on the first snap of his season. Horn would limp off the field and not get back into the game. He would not return to the sideline for the remainder of the first half, but was spotted in a full leg cast inside the tunnel.
Sam Horn’s future with the Missouri Tigers was a bit of a question mark heading into the 2025 college football season. The two-sport athlete was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2025 Major League Baseball draft, but opted to play for the football program this season.
Horn has battled injuries as he missed the entire 2024 season due to a separate injury. He has rarely seen the field since joining the Missouri Tigers ahead of the 2022 season, as he has completed 3 of 8 (37.5%) of his passes for 54 yards with a passing touchdown and an interception, while also tallying four rushing attempts for 19 yards (4.8 yards per carry).
It will be interesting to see what update we receive on his status and hopefully the injury is not too serious.
