New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara continues to be a focal point of discussion as he enters the 2025 NFL season. Despite recent challenges, an NFL offensive coach has praised Kamara for retaining some of the elite traits that have defined his career.

Kamara has been a pivotal part of the Saints’ offense since his rookie season, known for his versatility as both a runner and receiver. While his production slightly dipped in recent years, he remains a dynamic playmaker capable of breaking games wide open. His ability to adapt to evolving roles within the Saints’ offense keeps him relevant among the league’s top running backs.

Under the guidance of new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Kamara is expected to thrive in a revamped system. Moore’s innovative play-calling is geared toward maximizing the strengths of his players, and Kamara’s skill set aligns well with this approach. This partnership offers a fresh opportunity for Kamara to rediscover his peak performance levels.

Though ranked outside the top 10 running backs by some evaluations, Kamara has consistently proven his value on the field. His capacity to make significant contributions in both rushing and receiving phases of the game remains unmatched. Analysts point to his ability to create opportunities even when offensive support around him has faltered.

Kamara received an interesting take from an anonymous offensive coach in the league. This can be seen in an analysis by Jeremy Fowler for ESPN.

A premier back in our rankings for years, Kamara fell to honorable mention last year after a few down seasons. Though some evaluators see slight decline, Kamara fought his way back to the top 10 thanks to 1,503 scrimmage yards last year. Kamara appeared on nearly 60% of the voting ballots but none in the top six.

“Some of the elite traits are still there,” an NFL offensive coach said. “He didn’t have much of an offensive line or supporting cast last year. But he can still take a screen for big yardage and still has great contact balance.”

As the Saints aim to improve after a disappointing 2024 season, Kamara’s performance will be crucial. The synergy between his experience and Moore’s strategic vision could redefine the team’s offensive identity while enabling Kamara to break personal milestones, including the elusive 1,000-yard rushing mark.

With the 2025 season underway, Alvin Kamara has a chance to silence critics and reaffirm his place among the NFL’s elite. His journey will not only shape the Saints’ success but also reflect his enduring impact on the game.
