The 2024 Ohio State Buckeyes championship team is in the past and it is time for head coach Ryan Day and the program to look forward for the 2025 season. A lot of talent left for the NFL in the offseason, but the Buckeyes will have some talented players returning and they will also be reloading.

There is no doubt that they are going to start the 2025 college football season in the Top 5 rankings when the season comes out. However, many college football analysts are talking about who will be ranked where when the 2025 college football season begins.
Ohio State Buckeyes Ranked 4th In Latest Top 25 Poll By the Athletic

Stewart Mandel of the Athletic updated his Top 25 college football teams entering the 2025 season. Things have been updated. To no surprise, the Buckeyes are ranked fourth on his Top 25 list. The Clemson Tigers, the Penn State Nittany Lions, and the Texas Longhorns were ranked ahead of the Buckeyes. Mandel said,
“Familiar faces: WRs Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, LBs Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese, CB Davison Igbinosun, S Caleb Downs
Notable spring additions: DE Beau Atkinson (North Carolina)
My first 2025 top 25 was published the morning after the Buckeyes’ national championship win, at which point it was hard to overlook how many key players they were losing. (As it turned out, 14 draft picks.) But coach Ryan Day still has a lot of veterans, and now he’s added Atkinson (7 1/2 sacks last season), who could start opposite returnee Kenyatta Jackson. But it all comes down to how expected QB1 Julian Sayin performs.”
Sayin is expected to beat out Lincoln Keinholz for the starting quarterback job for the Buckeyes. This will be the fourth straight season that Ohio State will have a different starting quarterback. Smith and Downs could very well be two of the 10 best players in college football for the 2025 season.
They could very well not be the same team in 2025 after winning the national championship. Things will be interesting when Ohio State faces the Longhorns in Week 1 at Buckeyes Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. They will be also one of the favorites to win the BIG10 title during the 2025 college football season.
