Russell Wilson, New York Giants quarterback, recently shared a tribute to the late Gigi Bryant, the daughter of late NBA legend Kobe Bryant. Gigi Bryant’s birthday was on the first of May, and Wilson took time to remember her, long after she passed away.
Kobe Bryant and Gigi Bryant were killed in a helicopter crash on January 26th, 2020, when they were on their way to the Mamba Sports Academy. The chopper crashed when the pilot lost control of the helicopter because of climatic conditions.
“Happy birthday, Gigi ♾️,” Russell Wilson wished the late Gigi Bryant a happy birthday through an Instagram post.
Russell Wilson has always shared his admiration for the late Kobe Bryant. He has often worn the late basketball legend’s jersey while also mentioning how much he has been inspired by Bryant’s Mamba Mentality.
Wilson has been playing in the NFL since 2012 when he was selected by the Seattle Seahawks as the 75th pick in the third round of the draft. After playing for the Seahawks since 2021, Wilson moved to the Denver Broncos. In the 2024 NFL season, Wilson played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and will be a part of the New York Giants in the upcoming season.
Before stepping foot into the NFL, Wilson played college football for the North Carolina State Wolfpack and for the Wisconsin Badgers. In the previous season for the Steelers, Wilson managed to throw for a total of 2,482 yards, scoring 16 touchdowns, while managing five interceptions.
Russell Wilson’s Position May Be Threatened By Rookie Jaxson Dart
While Russell Wilson brings plenty of veteran experience to the New York Giants, several analysts and NFL gurus have brought up the possibility of a conflict between the 36-year-old quarterback and newbie Jaxson Dart.
Dart was newly selected by the New York Giants as the 25th pick in the very first round of the 2025 NFL draft. The rookie quarterback was pretty fantastic in his performances for the USC Trojans and the Ole Miss Rebels. His stats make him a pretty impressive option for a starting quarterback for the Giants. However, with Wilson in the locker room, Dart’s position is still in question.
In the previous NFL season, the New York Giants finished last in the NFC East after winning only three games and losing 14. The team played their very last game of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles, losing 20-13. With players like Wilson and Dart on their side, the Giants will try their best to improve their rankings in the upcoming NFL season.
