Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron played in college from 2009-2013. He also played in the NFL from 2014-2023 for a few different NFL teams.

With his NFL career behind him now, McCarron made a major announcement on Thursday about the next phase of his life. WRBL News 3 reported that,
“Former University of Alabama Quarterback AJ McCarron announced Thursday that he would be running for Lieutenant Governor. McCarron was with the Tide for five years, winning back-to-back National Championships under coach Nick Saban.”
McCarron is 35 years old. They also reported,
““With my football career behind me, Katherine and I are raising our boys here, instilling in them our deep Christian faith and teaching them the fundamental morals that make this state so special,” McCarron said in his announcement video.
He cited Charlie Kirk’s example as his reason “to get off the sidelines, and get into the game and stand tall” for Conservative beliefs.”
Well, this is a big step for the former Crimson Tide and former NFL quarterback. It will be interesting to see how his political career could potentially go for him.

If McCarron does wind up as the Lieutenant Governor of Alabama in 2026, it will be fascinating to see how it would play out. The state of Alabama is getting famous college stars and coaches to be running for office in that state for some strange reason.
