The Los Angeles Rams are 0-2 to start the 2024 season. Matthew Stafford is 36 years old and will not be a free agent until after the 2026 season with the Rams. Los Angeles will face the 1-1 San Francisco 49ers this week and it is very possible that the Rams could drop to 0-3.
Matthew Stafford so far this season has completed 69.7% of his passes for 533 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Los Angeles already has many injuries to the roster this season.
ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky Thinks the Los Angeles Rams Season Is Already Over And It Could Affect Matthew Stafford
ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky went onto NFL Live on Tuesday and talked about the potential future of the Rams for the 2024 season. A lot of players are out with injury and Matthew Stafford is still healthy for now. Orlovsky said:
“How real is it, the conversation of can we and will we trade Matthew Stafford. All those names, four of the five starting offensive linemen, the two wide receivers, some defensive people, if you sit down as an organization and say, ‘Those are extended periods of times that are going to be missed, four or five, six, seven weeks,’ your season is realistically done. It just realistically is. Then, you have this quarterback where it felt almost like an all-in year type of season, maybe next year as well, if you’re sitting there with that extended period of time, I do think it’s worth sitting down as an organization and saying, ‘How real is this for us?’”
There is no doubt that there would be a market for Matthew Stafford at the trade deadline this season if the Rams decided to move on from him. Some of the teams that could trade for him are the Miami Dolphins, the Las Vegas Raiders, or the Tennessee Titans. This is something that could very well be discussed between now and the NFL Trade Deadline.
Mina Kimes Thinks the Las Vegas Raiders Could Be a Landing Spot For Stafford
Mina Kimes of ESPN also answered where she thinks would be a good landing spot for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. She said:
“The Raiders. Watching that team the first couple of weeks, that is a very, very good defense. Davante Adams is still one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. Brock Bowers looks like a dude. Imagine Matthew Stafford…I’m just throwing it out there.”
Interestingly, she said the Raiders for him before the Dolphins because Tua Tagovailoa was put on injured reserve and they are riding with Skylar Thompson at the quarterback position. Also, Davante Adams has been mentioned in trade rumors for the Raiders over the summer and at the start of this season. The only way the Las Vegas Raiders make this move is if Gardner Minshew II struggles or if they are in the playoff hunt.
