Rob Gronkowski, former NFL tight end, wants to see fat football coaches on the field, and says he has a problem with coaches getting fit and in shape. Gronkowski played in the league from 2010 to 2021, spending most of his career with the New England Patriots.
During Gronkowski’s time in the league, football coaches were more on the unfit side. But, now, times are changing with more and more coaches opting to be in the fit shape that they expect their players to be in. On Thursday, Gronkowski spoke to Julian Edelman on the ‘Dudes on Dudes’ podcast, and dropped this little nugget.
“You want to know what’s a disappointment here is that these coaches are starting to get in shape now, man. They’re looking like they’ve been working out with the players, throwing some routes, going for jogs. Like, there’s a lot of positional coaches that are still looking like coaches, but these guys right now are looking slim, looking jacked, looking like they go for a run, actually looking like they go and lift some weights. But we need coaches to get fat again. Remember when we wanted (Danny Amendola) to get fat when he was coaching with the Las Vegas Raiders? That’s a true, typical coach is when they’re fat and overweight. That means you’re the best out there.” Rob Gronkowski said on the ‘Dudes on Dudes’ podcast on Thursday.

35-year-old Rob Gronkowski started off his NFL career with the New England Patriots after being selected as the 42nd pick in the second round of the 2010 draft. After playing for New England until 2018, Gronkowski took a break and then joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a single season before retiring in 2021.

Rob Gronkowski Blames Ozempic For Absence Of Fat Coaches
Rob Gronkowski has a theory as to what is causing the extinction of fat coaches in the NFL. According to the former NFL player, Ozempic is to blame. Ozempic is a diabetic medication which is increasingly being used to lose weight in a short span of time.
“I think the problem is, is that Ozempic came out. It should be on the PED list for these coaches. We need them fat. Again, it makes football better.” Gronkowski said on the ‘Dudes for Dudes’ podcast.

Although it is not FDA-approved for weight loss, the drug has become popular, mainly as a result of being promoted by celebrities like Oprah, Rebel Wilson and even Elon Musk. While numerous celebs are indeed hyping this drug up, there are still certain qualms that restrict its usage, such as its cost and side effects.
