The Texas Longhorns do not play in Week 6 of the college football season, but they are using this week as extra preparation for the Oklahoma Sooners matchup the following week. One of the biggest stories for the Longhorns is will Quinn Ewers be the starting quarterback for the Longhorns or will it be Arch Manning?
Manning started in the last two games for Texas after Ewers missed time with an abdominal/oblique injury. Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian sounds optimistic about Quinn Ewers returning against the Oklahoma Sooners.
Reports That Texas Longhorns Quarterback Quinn Ewers Was Getting First Team Reps At Practice On Tuesday
According to multiple sources who told Anwar Richardson of Yahoo, Quinn Ewers received first-team reps in practice on Tuesday. Richardson was told:
“Quinn is playing [against Oklahoma]. No way he misses this game or the rest of the season. He wants to win the SEC and a Natty.”
This is huge news for the Longhorns. Despite Manning playing well in his absence, they will need Ewers to make a run in the college football playoff this season. Quinn Ewers was projected to be the Heisman Trophy favorite until he got injured a couple of weeks ago.
Fans React To This Massive News
There is no question that fans were going to react about Ewers getting reps before the Oklahoma matchup over Manning. Here are what the fans had to say about it on Twitter:
Utah’s schedule is tougher than UTs this season. Any QB will do at this point for UT but Arch gives them the best chance

Great news for OU fans…

I’ll stick with what i’ve been saying. Ewers most likely gives them the best chance to win right now and Manning will be the better pro.

Thank god! Arch is a much harder QB to defend due to his running ablity!

As he should. This is his team. Arch will have 2 years of glory after Quinn is done

There seems to be a lot of mixed reactions to Ewers starting over Arch Manning. However, if Ewers does not play well over Manning, there will be a lot of criticism about it.
