The Tennessee Titans are looking at releasing a veteran player
The Tennessee Titans came into the offseason knowing they were working with limited cap space. The Titans will have to prioritize contracts before the 2023 season. The team is working on a long-term deal for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. The team might have to release another defender to open up more cap space.
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Titans are expected to cut veteran pass-rusher Bud Dupree. Dupree would have hit $17 million against the Titans’ cap this season.
The #Titans are expected to release pass-rusher Bud Dupree, sources say, the former big-ticket FA signing who was due $17M this season. More player turnover to reallocate resources, as another veteran pass-rusher hits the market.

According to Over The Cap, the Titans have just over $12 million in cap space before free agency. Dupree has only started in 17 games for the Titans in the previous two seasons. He earned four sacks, one forced fumble, and 18 total tackles in 2022. The Titans could use his salary to help with other holes on the roster. But Dupree should be able to find another team as a free agent for next fall.
