The Tennessee Titans are working on a players contract
The Tennessee Titans made a few organizational changes after a disappointing 2022 season. The Titans fell apart at the end of the regular season and missed the playoffs after squandering the AFC South to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now the team is looking to keep the necessary weapons to keep the team in playoff contention next season.
According to Dan Graziano with ESPN, the Titans are having discussions with defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons about a long-term deal:
“The Tennessee Titans and defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons have had discussions about a long-term deal. Simmons is currently scheduled to play 2023 on his fifth-year option of $10.753 million, and he has obviously outplayed that number. He had 7.5 sacks and 27 pressures from the interior last season.”
The former first-round pick has been a force for the Titans’ defense. He’s earned two Pro Bowl nominations and two All-Pro honors. The Titans must find a way to keep him on their defense if they want to stay competitive in the division.
