Patrick Mahomes Injury Update on Monday
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid provided Patrick Mahomes’ injury update on Monday. The Chiefs will play the Cincinnati Bengals at home next Sunday in the AFC Champions game. The Chiefs have a big question mark heading into practice this week. How well can Mahomes play after sustaining a high-ankle sprain in the Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars?
Mahomes said he intends to play in the AFC Championship game. Reid talked about their plans for Mahomes this week in his press conference on Monday. According to James Palmer with the NFL Network, Reid compared the injury to the one Mahomes suffered in 2019 and said this injury was not as bad. Reid said Mahomes is planning to play, but the Chiefs are taking the injury day to day. Mahomes might not practice this week to help the healing progress for Sunday’s matchup.
Andy Reid said this high ankle sprain is not as bad as the one in 2019. He's getting treatment and they'll take it day by day. Reid said Mahomes is planning to play. He's never played without practicing, but it appears that hasn't been ruled out if staying off it ends up the plan

A high-ankle injury typically causes players to miss a few weeks. However, with a Super Bowl trip on the line, it’s assumed Mahomes and the Chiefs might be more aggressive with forcing a speedy recovery this week.
The Chiefs need Mahomes magic on Sunday to beat the defending AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals. Quarterback Joe Burrow has had the better of Mahomes the previous three times they’ve met, including in last year’s AFC Championship Game. GH will keep an eye on Patrick Mahomes injury updates as they come this week.
