The New York Giants are 1-3 to start the 2024 season. New York will face the 3-1 Seattle Seahawks on the road this weekend. If the Giants drop to 1-4 this weekend, they may be going to be sellers for the second consecutive season.
One of the players on the team who could be traded is wide receiver Darius Slayton. Slayton is in the final year of his contract and has been with the Giants since the 2019 season.
New York Giants Could Trade Wide Receiver Darius Slayton To the Kansas City Chiefs
The New York Giants at some point will need to play Jalin Hyatt more over Darius Slayton. The top two wide receivers on the Giants are Wan’Dale Robinson and Malik Nabers. Slayton for now has been the third receiver over Hyatt, but all could change soon.
With Rashee Rice being out for a lengthy time for the Kansas City Chiefs, they will need to trade for a wide receiver. Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News thinks that Kansas City could trade for the Giants wide receiver. Iyer said:
“The Giants have Wan’Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt to help rookie first-rounder Malk Nabers. Slayton is an experienced target who can cross over well into Reid’s offense after working with former Chiefs assistant Mike Kafka in New York.”
There were four other candidates that Iyer listed as well in the article. Slayton so far this season with New York has caught 10 passes for 122 yards receiving and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 12.2 yards per catch and being targeted 15 times.
Giants Traded Wide Receiver Kadarius Toney To the Chiefs Two Years Ago
The Giants two years ago traded wide receiver Kadarius Toney to the Chiefs and it turned out well for New York. Despite winning two titles with the Chiefs, Toney is no longer with Kansas City. Kadarius Toney had a lot of talent, but he was a head case.
Darius Slayton would be a much better option for the Kansas City Chiefs this time around than Kadarius Toney was. It will be interesting to see if Slayton gets traded to Kansas City or another team near the trade deadline.
