The Las Vegas Raiders have Garoppolo as a QB option
The Raiders chose known head coaching flunky Josh McDaniels as the team’s future savior over franchise quarterback Derek Carr late last season. The team benched Carr in a season he’d make the Pro Bowl and later released the quarterback this offseason. The Raiders are now trying to figure out their quarterback situation on a budget, and there’s a possibility the team could go after Jimmy Garoppolo.

The San Francisco 49ers brass has said explicitly Garoppolo will not be back in 2023. He would make more sense at this point than Rodgers. The Raiders reportedly aren’t interested in paying Rodgers’ salary with the rest of the work the team needs to do to upgrade the roster.
According to Dan Graziano with ESPN, the Raiders are expected to go after Garoppolo, Aaron Rodgers, and Mac Jones this offseason:
“If they can’t get [Rodgers], a lot of people in Indianapolis this week expect McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler to pursue free agent quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, whom they know from his time in New England early in his career. There’s also some chatter that McDaniels might try to acquire Mac Jones from the Patriots, though it seems unlikely New England would consider moving the 2021 first-rounder.”
Rodgers and Jones don’t seem as likely on Garoppolo. One wonders if Garoppolo is an upgrade to Carr. This could backfire on McDaniels.
