The 2023 NFL offseason is close to getting underway with all but two teams out of the hunt and preparing to make improvements for next season. While everyone is excited about a Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl matchup, other teams and fans are excited to see what their team can do in the offseason. One intriguing name to keep an eye on this offseason in NFL free agency will be Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt.

Hunt has been a huge part of the Cleveland offense over the last few years. He has been a great piece to help keep Nick Chubb fresh and has put up great numbers himself.

According to a report from Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram, Hunt is seemingly very unlikely to re-sign with the Browns in free agency this offseason.

“Trending: Pending FA RB Kareem Hunt will only return to the Browns if it’s on a cheap deal and no other team wants to pay him.”

What’s Next For The Browns And Kareem Hunt?

In other words, Hunt will not be back with the Browns. There are going to be at least a handful of teams who have interest in adding him to their backfield.

During the 2022 season with the Browns, Hunt ended up carrying the football 123 times for 468 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught 35 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers as a backup to one of the most productive running backs in the NFL show just how talented Hunt still is and the impact he can provide.

At 27 years of age, Hunt is still in the prime of his career. He has also been used sparingly over the last four years, so there hasn’t been a lot of wear and tear on him.

Looking at the current market, there are quite a few teams who could show interest in signing Hunt. Among those teams are the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills, who are both expected to be elite contenders next season.  Another team to watch could be the Miami Dolphins.

With that in mind, the Browns will need to look elsewhere for a backup behind Chubb. Losing Hunt will hurt, but there are other talented players they could target to replace him.

Expect to see a large market form for Kareem Hunt this offseason. He’s still more than capable of being a starter and producing big-time numbers in the right situation. It will be interesting to see where he lands.
