The Kansas City Chiefs are about to make an OC change
The Kansas City Chiefs have had stability at their offensive coordinator position for years. But that’s about to change after reports came out this morning about a major coaching change. Eric Bieniemy has held the title of offensive coordinator in Kansas City since 2018. That’s the same season quarterback Patrick Mahomes was the full-season starter for the Chiefs.
It’s been a successful run for Bieniemy and the Chiefs. Two Super Bowls later and Bieniemy is looking to improve his resume by taking an offensive coordinator in a more challenging situation. According to multiple reports, he will be named the next Washington Commanders offensive coordinator. But the Chiefs could have his replacement all ready to go.
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Kansas City Chiefs senior assistant and quarterbacks coach Matt Nagy is considered the “top choice” to take Bieniemy’s place.

Nagy has experience as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator before. He had that role in 2016-17 before he left to take the head coaching job with the Chicago Bears. That stint didn’t go too well, so he returned to the Chiefs for some coaching rehab. Nagy could take the next step of his recovery as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator.
