Jalen Carter pleads no contest
A new report came out on the conclusion of Jalen Carter’s traffic case. Carter had an arrest warrant that surfaced during the NFL Scouting Combine a few weeks ago. Carter voluntarily turned himself in to authorities.
According to Mark Schlabach with ESPN, Carter pleaded no contest to charges of reckless driving, and racing. Both charges were misdemeanor offenses. One big note here for his April draft status, no additional charges are forthcoming:
“The former Georgia star defensive lineman and top NFL draft prospect was sentenced to 12 months of probation, a $1,000 fine, 80 hours of community service and will attend a state-approved defensive driving course.
By resolving the matter, Stephens said the state is forever barred from bringing additional charges against Carter.”
Carter is considered one of the top draft prospects in this year’s draft. Carter, a defensive tackle from the back-to-back National Championship-winning Georgia Bulldogs, was on the top of many draft analysts’ boards before the combine. After the warrant was issued, Carter fell from the top in many mock drafts. He struggled in drills during his Wednesday Pro Day appearance.
