Could Aaron Rodgers go to the Carolina Panthers?

The Carolina Panthers have a new regime in the building for 2023. The team is looking at plans for who will be their quarterback next season. News came out recently the Panthers are looking at extending Sam Darnold for next season as the team decides if they want to draft another quarterback in April.

The Panthers appear to be another NFL team exhausting all efforts to find a quarterback. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Panthers have called the Green Bay Packers about receiving Aaron Rodgers via a trade this offseason.

The trade would appear on the surface to make zero sense for both parties. Because of Rodgers’ contract, he must agree to be traded to the Panthers. That doesn’t seem likely, as the Panthers are nowhere near being contenders in 2023, as they tore down their roster when they fired Matt Rhule midseason. Rodgers will want veteran and skilled wide receivers wherever he plays next season.

Rodgers is not a cheap prospect should the four-time MVP come to Charlotte. He’s set to make nearly $60 million next season. According to Over The Cap, the Panthers are over $2 million in the red before the free agency period.
