Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears quarterback, seems to be finally getting the hand of head coach Ben Johnson’s coaching style. Johnson, who is known to be pretty tough on his players, was given the head coaching job with the Bears after his impressive stint with the Detroit Lions as their offensive coordinator.
Right after Williams started training under Ben Johnson, it was reported that the quarterback was not taking his strict attitude pretty well. Johnson is known to be pretty offense-focused and has overturned the culture with the Bears in a positive manner. However, according to ESPN writer Jeremy Fowler, things are going quite swimmingly between Williams and Johnson as of now.
“Yeah, so football maturity is going to be a big theme for his leaguewide. The Bears have already been working with him on, you know, body language, how you’re handling yourself in the huddle, on the sidelines when a play doesn’t go right. And the word out of Chicago is he’s handled himself well there. … So those are all things people are watching, but word is this offseason he’s been great, really taken to Ben Johnson’s hard aggressive coaching.” Jeremy Fowler spoke about Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson on SportsCenter on Monday.

Caleb Williams will be playing his sophomore season with the Chicago Bears in the upcoming NFL season. While the quarterback showed plenty of promise when he was drafted by the Bears as the first overall pick, his rookie year with the Bears definitely did not go too well. However, NFL analysts are expecting him to thrive under Ben Johnson’s coaching.

Caleb Williams Faced Criticism For Studying Film By Himself
In the same appearance on SportsCenter, Jeremy Fowler also revealed an example of a situation that Caleb Williams could have handled differently if he was coached better. Williams was criticized in the previous NFL season when he openly stated that he was studying game film by himself. Not only Williams, but the Chicago Bears coaching staff were also heavily condemned for the same.

According to Fowler, Caleb Williams is currently being trained by Ben Johnson to take more accountability and give credit where it is deserved. It looks like Johnson is definitely the right person to groom Williams in the right manner so that he develops as a well-rounded starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Williams has been known to be hyper-independent in his training regime, but it looks like things are changing under Johnson.
