Aaron Rodgers speaks to the New York Jets

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst indicated last week at the NFL Scouting Combine the team had not held discussions with Aaron Rodgers following his darkness retreat a couple of weeks ago. It appears some discussions have taken place between the two parties. Over the weekend, NFL insiders suggested Rodgers had limited options for 2023; he recently visited about one of them.

According to Trey Wingo, the Packers gave Rodgers permission to talk to the New York Jets about a potential trade this offseason. Rodgers met with the Jets on Monday. No trade seems ready to happen this instant, but Rodgers appears open to playing for the Jets next season.

Per sources. Aaron Rodgers and the Jets had conversations today. While nothing is imminent Rodgers is open to the idea of going to NY

The Packers could still keep Rodgers in Green Bay for the 2023 season. However, they’d likely have to bring back free agents Rodgers wants. While Rodgers can nix any trade he wants via his contract, he might be more open to playing for the Jets, who will have a loaded offense next season. The Packers might decide their best option with a limited cap is to build around former first-round pick Jordan Love, who will be in his fourth season with the Packers.
