Ravens Slumped 44–10: John Harbaugh Calls It “Complete Disappointment”

The Baltimore Ravens have started this season in a horrible manner as they slumped to their fourth defeat after losing against the Houston Texans by 44-10. Coach John Harbaugh expressed disappointment over the loss during the post-game media conference. In a clip shared on Instagram today, he said,

Obviously, got beat in every way, got beat beat. Very disappointed with that. Did not expect to see that. Thought we’d play a lot better on that based on the way we practiced.”

The Ravens were beaten in almost every aspect of the game today. While the Texans scored four touchdowns, the Ravens could muster only one courtesy of running back Derrick Henry, who was perhaps the best Ravens player on the field today.

The Texans played 66 plays with 27 first-downs while the Ravens played 40 plays with 12 first-downs. Harbaugh did not hesitate to mention it while praising the Texans for their performance. He said,

And hats off to them. They played a really good game. Made a bunch of plays. [They] did a great job on the first down. We did not built a rhythm really throughout the game… we did not… So just complete disappointment.”

John Harbaugh frustrated by Lamar Jackson’s injury

The Ravens were short-handed while heading into the game as they were crippled by a long list of injuries, including a hamstring injury to star quarterback Lamar Jackson. Reports suggest that Harbaugh is boiling over by Jackson’s absence. Earlier this week, when the coach was asked about Jackson’s injury concern, he replied,

How bout I just don’t say anything?” Harbaugh fired back. “That’s what I would do. Why don’t we just leave it alone? The injury report will be out at 4.”

Jackson’s absence was visibly felt on Sunday as stand-by QB Cooper Rush could complete 14 of his 20 passes for 179 yards, but with three interceptions. Meanwhile, CJ Stroud completed 23 of his 27 passes for 244 yards with four TDs. The 34-point deficit is the Ravens’ biggest lopsided result since their loss against the Patriots in 2013.

Despite the loss and their current situation, Harbaugh promised better results for the remainder of the season. He said,

“And we have to find a way to turn it around and figure out who we are next week. And at the end of the bye and after the bye, we’re going to have more than half of the season left going to have to find ourselves. So that’s what our aim will be going forward.”

The Ravens are at the bottom of the division at the moment. With injuries to key players like Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith, Patrick Ricard, and Marlon Humphrey, things look grim. If Harbaugh can pull off a playoff season from here, it would be a miraculous performance much like Bill Belichick’s 2008 season.
