After a horrendous display of football in the secondary last season, the Baltimore Ravens finished the year ranking last in passing yards allowed. The team took a quick notice and made some key moves this offseason. Per Mike Renner at PFF, the Ravens are ranked #1 out of all AFC secondary’s heading into the 2022 NFL season.

Ravens Offseason Additions
Adding to an already star-studded cornerback duo of Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters, the Ravens went on and signed Kyle Fuller to a one year deal. Not stopping there, Baltimore added more depth by drafted Jalyn Armour-Davis and Damarion Williams. Reported by PFF, both rookies have looked “impressive” in minicamp already.
Peters is coming back from a season-ending knee injury, so his status is important to monitor. Whether or not he performs well is what will determine how good this Ravens secondary can be.
The safety group holds strong with returning starter Chuck Clark and the signing of free agent Marcus Williams. As it wasn’t already enough for the Ravens, they drafted Kyle Hamilton 14th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. Hamilton will bring a lot of talent to Baltimore as his characteristics make him a bit of a unicorn at the position. His mixture of speed and awareness allows him to make an impact on any given play. The Ravens Flock will gladly welcome him on board.
Veteran Tony Jefferson, Iman Marshall and Geno Stone also seem to be in the mix as well.
“Nothing on the defensive side of the football translates better to points allowed than a secondary’s performance in coverage,” Renner wrote for PFF. “That means if a team expects to field a top-three defense in the NFL, it better at least end up as a Tier 1 unit on this list when we revisit after the season.”
