The Baltimore Ravens are going all in on their power ground strategy with an extension of two years and an amount of $30 million with their All-Pro featuring running back, Derrick Henry. The deal comes with $25 million guarantee, which is the richest deal for a running back over the age of 30.

Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens reached agreement today on a two-year, $30 million extension that includes $25 million fully guaranteed over the next two seasons, per Todd France of Athletes First. Derrick Henry’s Expectations

Henry, who has just turned 31 years old in January, confirmed last season that age is only a number. The former Titan signed a 2-year, $16 m deal in 2024, and he met all the expectations in his first season with Baltimore. He had 1,921 rushing yards in the NFL, securing him the position of second place in the league, followed by a tie between him and others for the most number of rushing touchdowns, which stood at 16. His 5.9 yards per carry became his career best, and his physical touch came to give a new look to Baltimore’s offense.

The pairing of Henry and quarterback Lamar Jackson was a nightmare for the opposition defenses around the league. In the postseason, Henry did not slow down, posting 186 rushing yards and 2 scores in the Ravens’ Wild Card victory over Pittsburgh, and another score in a gutsy loss at Buffalo in the Divisional Round.

Henry, however, does so much more than what is reported. Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta has heaped praise on Henry’s work ethic, leadership, and veteran presence.

“Derrick [Henry] is just a phenomenal worker. He’s a pro. He does everything the right way, the way that he practices, the way that he takes care of his body, his mentality on the field, his leadership, his talent – he’s freakishly talented – his combination of size and speed. He was just a perfect player for us last year. [He was] the right addition, and he brought a lot to the table on the field and also off the field with intangible qualities. We’re blessed to have him, and I would expect his successes last year to continue this year.”

Derrick Henry went on social media just after the extension was announced, and he thanked Ravens fans and teammates.

God is good !! 🙏🏾🙏🏾@Ravens I’m appreciative & grateful for everyone apart of this great organization & a BIG S/O to all my teammates to be able to make this possible 🤞🏾. Thank you Flock Nation for always supporting . Working as hard I can to be able to…

The Ravens were 12-5 in the previous season and fell short of the mark, again, to make it to a Super Bowl. With Derrick Henry now secured through 2027, the Ravens are obviously, bet-the-house, on winning now.

Henry said earlier this year that, after eight years in Tennessee, he wants to “retire a Raven”. Based on how he performed for them last season, if anything, Baltimore might have struck gold again.
