The San Francisco 49ers are the hottest team in the NFL. If they continue their winning ways, they will face the winner of the Cincinnati Bengals/Kansas City Chiefs game in the Super Bowl. In order to do so, they will have to continue to rely on Mr. Irrelevant, quarterback Brock Purdy. Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network revealed this morning the Jimmy Garoppolo will not be active for the NFC Championship:
#49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo won’t be active today, but sources say based on scans of his ankle this week, he’s finally at a point where practicing is possible. There will be obvious risks if he actually has to play, but if SF wins, practicing then being the backup is conceivable.

Brock Purdy Has Been What the 49ers Needed
The San Francisco 49ers have had quite the roller coaster with their quarterbacks this season. Trey Lance was highly touted, but was lost for the season after a broken ankle. Jimmy Garoppolo, who has already taken the 49ers to a NFC Championship game, was lost for the season after an ankle injury of his own.
Since taking over as the quarterback for San Francisco, Purdy has 1,374 yards and 13 touchdowns. These numbers are just in the regular season. In two playoff games thus far, Purdy has throw for three more touchdowns, run for another, and has not thrown an interception.
