NFL Hall of Famer and legendary wide receiver Randy Moss is making his highly anticipated return to ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown just in time for Super Bowl LIX. After stepping away from his analyst role in December to undergo cancer treatment, Moss will once again join the broadcast team for the biggest game of the year.

Randy Moss’s Resilience
In December last year, doctors noted there was a cancerous mass in his bile duct, which is between his pancreas and liver, and Moss, 47, then revealed the news to his fans. On Thanksgiving, he had surgery first to put in a stent to his liver and then took six hours to remove the cancer. And he started radiation and chemotherapy treatment thereafter.
Moss’s optimistic update on social media just a week after he stepped away from ESPN, despite the difficult battle. He declared himself a cancer survivor in a heartfelt message and wanted to get back to television as soon as his health would permit. Just two months later, he is fulfilling that promise.
On Thursday night at NFL Honors, Moss made a surprise appearance and spoke an emotional message to fans and supporters. In a recorded segment, he thanked his doctors, his family, and the vast number of fans who helped him throughout his fight. The NFL community opened its arms to his words.

He, of course, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018 as one of the league’s greatest wide receivers. He played 14 seasons of professional football with the Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and San Francisco 49ers and had 156 career touchdowns—second most in league history: an NFL record, his 23-touchdown season with the undefeated (regular season) 2007 Patriots.
Now that Moss is back on the show, and returning to the ESPN set for Super Bowl Sunday, his presence will also provide expert analysis and also be a sign of resilience and determination. And fans and colleagues alike will be cheering his return, just as they so often have with Randy Moss, you just can never count the man out.
