Texas football quarterback Quinn Ewers didn’t have his best night against a top college football defense from Georgia that came into Austin on a mission. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was out for blood, and his team got the better of Steve Sarkisian’s squad on Saturday night.
Texas football QB Quinn Ewers left the game in the second quarter
Ewers left the game in the second quarter with Texas trailing 20-0. It appeared to be a benching at the time, but Sarkisian said after the game he wanted to give his quarterback a chance to regroup. Arch Manning would replace Ewers for the rest of the first half. Manning would go 3-of-6 passing for 19 yards and lost a fumble. that set up Georgia with a field goal to go up 23-0 at the break.
Ewers would return to start the second half, leading Texas to a touchdown on their opening drive in the third quarter. Ewers didn’t do much positively after that drive, Texas’ only touchdown after that came when the offense started from the Georgia 9-yard line via a defensive interception. The 21-year-old quarterback had a costly fumble in the fourth quarter.
Ewers would finish the game 25-of-43 passing for 211 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also would lose two total fumbles. Georgia quarterback Carson Beck didn’t play much better, throwing three interceptions in the 30-15 win at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.
College football: time for Arch Manning to be the starting QB?

“I’ve seen enough put Arch Manning as the starting QB,” posted a fan.
“Bench ewers and be done with him cause he ain’t that good…..goodnight,” commented another.
