Robert Griffin lll tweeted out the five quarterbacks ranked he would want to start a franchise with. The list had the young big names who are balling out so far in their careers. Here I’m going to compare his list to what my list would be and why I agree or disagree with him. This isn’t a ranking of the best quarterbacks cause there is some elite Qb’s that are nearing the end so you wouldn’t want to start a Dynasty with them. This is five young elite Qb’s to start a Dynasty with. Now with all the explanations out of the way let’s get into it.
5-RG3- Justin Herbert, my pick – Dak Prescott
For his fifth pick RG3 picked Justin Herbert, and I would put Dak Prescott fifth. Honestly I don’t have a problem with Herbert on the list, I just have him higher than fifth. I believe Dak has done enough from his first season that nobody but him expected till now. Even though it hasn’t brought deep playoff runs yet Dak has played as a top ten QB since entering the league. Then before he suffered his gruesome injury he was playing his best ball yet. I don’t see any reason why this season will be any different so I would definitely be ok with building a Dynasty around him.
4- RG3- Joe Burrow, my pick- Justin Herbert
In the fourth place on this list RG3 has Joe Burrow at fourth. Joe Burrow is a great young quarterback with a lot of upside. Again I have to disagree on the rankings though. Justin Herbert is everything that you could ask for in a franchise quarterback.Herbert is poised with good pocket awareness. He goes through his progressions quick and has an arm to put the ball anywhere on the field. His only downsides so far is he hasn’t been able to win the big games. In big moments he has come up short which is what haunted Andy Dalton in Cincinnati. Dalton would play great all season to come apart in the post season. Not that Herbert and Dalton are comparable because I truly believe Herbert is way better but untill he has big game and post season success, I can’t put him any higher on this list.
3- RG3 – Josh Allen , My pick Josh Allen
Robert Griffin lll places Josh Allen third on his list of quarterbacks to build a franchise around. This time I completely agree with this ranking. Allen has maybe the strongest arm in the NFL but he’s also fast and a great runner. So he can torch you from the pocket and then when you drop back to cover he will break a run for a big gain. Allen is the most dangerous dual threat mobile quarterback in the league. His placement at third instead of first or second would have to be only because of post season success because I believe Allen is just as elite as any other young QB in the NFL. Now that the Bills has loaded up a team around him, it’s a great possibility he could make a Superbowl run this season and maybe force me to change his place to higher.
2- RG3- Patrick Mahomes, My pick- Joe Burrow
RG3 ranked Patrick Mahomes second on his list. Honestly Patrick Mahomes is a can’t miss here but I gotta go with Joe Burrow here at second. Burrow put together the greatest single season in college football his senior year . He transferred to LSU and was eligible to play only one season and boy did he ever. Then he’s drafted first overall and his sophomore season he takes the Bengals to the Superbowl. During a season where he was behind the worst offensive line in the NFL and was sacked almost 60 times. Burrow has nerves of steel, pocket presence, and football intelligence that’s out of this world. Those are mostly things thats not teachable, you either have these qualities or you don’t. Then you add in pocket presence, mechanics, arm strength, and accuracy and it’s like Burrow was groomed since birth to be an NFL quarterback. Who knows next year he may top this list.
1- RG3- Lamar Jackson, My Pick- Patrick Mahomes
This is where the wheels fell off, so to speak. I don’t know how you can put Lamar Jackson above these other names here on this list. If I’m being honest Im not fully sure I’d put Lamar in my top ten. He is one heck of an athlete, and as far as being a running QB he’s that dude. My issue is when he is forced to stand in the pocket and make every throw his ranking drops way off. Patrick Mahomes on the other hand is maybe the most talented quarterbacks I’ve ever seen play. He is a magician with the football. He is mobile and can extend plays but his biggest impact on the game is throwing the ball, and not just from the pocket. I’ve never seen anyone more accurate when on the run or that can sidearm a football 30 to 40 yards down field and hit his recievers in their numbers. Mahomes is a once in a generation QB, and I believe he has the chance by the end of his career to be the best ever.
Well that’s the list of quarterbacks I would build a Dynasty around. I hope you enjoyed the list and look for more to be coming out. In the meantime though you might as well enjoy more great football content like these.
