The New York Giants had the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft entering Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. After the Giants won the game over the Colts 45-33, New York dropped from first to fourth in the 2025 NFL Draft order.
Everyone knows that the New York Giants will need to draft a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. It will be interesting to see how the Top 5 of the 2025 NFL Draft order shakes up after the Giants game on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
New York Giants Find Its Next Franchise Quarterback In 2025 NFL Draft
CBS Sports writer Josh Edwards created a mock draft for 2025 in the NFL. With the New York Giants selecting fourth overall, he has them selecting quarterback Shedeur Sanders from the Colorado Buffaloes. It feels like a surprise that Sanders would still be available with the fourth selection. Edwards said:
“Quarterbacks are always pushed higher in the draft order, but neither Ward nor Shedeur Sanders is a prospect who has to be taken in the top-5 overall. In this scenario, the Titans went a different route because they were not enamored with their options. New York still gets Sanders, but a few picks later.”
Shedeur Sanders going to the Giants would be the best thing to happen for them. Sanders this season completed 74.0% of his passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. The New York Giants need a starting quarterback in the worst way.
Future Stars
The best thing about the Giants potentially drafting Sanders is that wide receiver Malik Nabers would finally have his star quarterback. Nabers has the chance to be a great wide receiver in the NFL for the New York Giants. Nabers has over 1,000 yards receiving this season and rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. also went over 1,000 yards from scrimmage.
There is a slim chance that the New York Giants could get back to being number one overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. New York needs to stay in the Top 4 to either get Sanders or Cam Ward from Miami.
