The Pittsburgh Steelers overhauled their receiving corps during the offseason, trading or moving on from three of their top four wide receivers from last season. Pittsburgh traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, while Van Jefferson signed with the Tennessee Titans, and Mike Williams signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Steelers addressed the position by trading for DK Metcalf and bringing in veteran Robert Woods.
Although Metcalf will take over as their WR1, the team lacks a clear-cut WR2, thanks to the Pickens trade. They currently have three players competing for the WR2 job, including their third-round pick from last year’s draft.
Injuries marred the Pittsburgh Steelers’ third-round pick’s rookie year

Roman Wilson had a forgettable rookie year, battling two different injuries, which limited him to one game and five offensive snaps, and failing to register a statistic. Wilson suffered an ankle injury on the first day of padded practice, knocking him out for the rest of the summer, missing the first few games, and later becoming a healthy scratch. He made his long-awaited season debut in Week 6 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Unfortunately, he missed the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, as the Steelers placed him on injured reserve.
Pittsburgh Steelers counting on their third-round pick

According to Jeremy Fowler, the Steelers are counting on Roman Wilson to make a “Year 2 jump” and potentially replace George Pickens. Fowler went on to say that the team believes that Wilson looks like a completely different player during the offseason compared to last season’s injury-riddled affair. He also mentions they could be in the market for a veteran WR, thanks to their three third-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.
