Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is trying to figure out how to hang onto a playoff spot and revitalize the offense. Whether it has been Kenny Pickett or Mitchell Trubisky, the Steelers’ offense has been anemic. One player that has clearly not been happy is wide receiver George Pickens. Tomlin called out his sideline behavior in an interview today.

Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin Calls Out George Pickens
It seems like every game we get a shot of Pickens looking dejected on the sideline. Tomlin said that it has become a problem.
“It’s a problem because it’s not solution-oriented. You know we are all frustrated, but we got to manage our frustrations in a professional, mature way. When it’s not done that way, it’s not necessarily pushing us to solutions.”
The behavior of Pickens is not necessarily a surprise. This was the knock on him coming out of college and the Steelers are now having to manage yet another difficult receiver.

Can They Right The Ship?
Time is running out. It is difficult to see how the team gets an offense that can produce especially with Trubisky under center. They have the advantage of wins under their belt but they are trending in the wrong direction. Usually, coaches do not call out player behavior when things are going well. Questions are starting to be asked about Tomlin and whether he could be let go after this season. It would be a stunning move but if the team continues to underperform, it would make sense.

Can the Steelers hold onto their playoff spot? They have a tough schedule down the stretch and a lot of teams chasing them. It will be tough but Tomlin has shown that he can pull out wins late in the season.
