Kenny Pickett started his career in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who took him in the first round (20th overall) of the 2022 NFL draft. He was initially a depth guy on the pecking order of Pittsburgh’s quarterbacks, but he eventually got his chance to start for the franchise.
In his first two years in the NFL with the Steelers, he had 4,474 passing yards and 13 touchdowns with 13 interceptions in 25 appearances, including 24 starts.
He parted ways with the Steelers and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2024 offseason. Pickett had considerably less experience on the field with the Eagles than he had in either of his seasons with the Steelers, but he won a Super Bowl – and seemingly gained more useful learnings with Philly.
Kenny Pickett praised the Eagles but didn’t speak about the Pittsburgh Steelers

Now with the Cleveland Browns, Pickett recently opened up about his experience with the Eagles, praising the way Philly gets the job done on the field and behind the scenes.
“I’m extremely grateful for my time in Philly,” Pickett said (via Kevin Patra of NFL.com). “I think I was just shown how it’s supposed to be done, really, from the top down. So when you get a chance to see what it’s supposed to look like and how it should look on a day-to-day basis, not just on Sundays. You know, I think it’ll pay dividends for me in the future.”
But as Patra also noted, Pickett did not talk about the Steelers, which may not be intentional, but was noticeable nonetheless.
As Pickett is now back in the AFC North division, it will be interesting to see how he handles himself in the upcoming meetings with the Steelers in the 2025 NFL season, especially if he ends up winning the Browns’ QB1 role.
