The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping for a year two jump from quarterback Kenny Pickett. After winning the starting job midway through the season, Pickett showed enough promise for fans and analysts to be optimistic about him entering 2023. Apparently, he has been hard at work this offseason. According to a source, Pickett’s arm is looking “noticeably stronger”.
Pittsburgh Steelers Kenny Pickett Looking Good
Pickett’s arm strength was a concern when he was drafted. It seems that he has been working on it according to Adam Caplan of Pro Football Network.
“And Pickett’s arm, a source with knowledge of the situation said, looked noticeably stronger during their OTA practices. Pickett’s knock in personnel circles coming into last year’s draft was that his arm strength was lacking, so it will be interesting to see what transpires in training camp,”
Pickett has no shortage of weapons on offense. George Pickens is one of the most exciting young receivers and is hoping to make a year two jump of his own. Najee Harris is looking to have a bounce back season as well which should help Pickett.
Can The Team Sneak Into The Playoffs?
The Steelers always seem to find a way to finish over .500. Anytime a team can do that, they will always be in the playoff picture come December. The AFC is tough this year. Even in their own division, the Bengals and Ravens look to dominate the division with the Browns looking to play spoiler. The biggest advantage the Steelers have is Mike Tomlin. Having an established head coach and one that manages games well is usually worth a couple of wins.
The Pittsburgh Steelers took a lot of flack for taking Kenny Pickett so high. If he can blossom into a top half of the league quarterback, they will prove a lot of people wrong.
