The Pittsburgh Steelers have been heavily connected to 41-year-old star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Following his departure from the New York Jets, Rodgers has been heavily talked about with NFL free agency underway.
Right now, there are three teams who seem to have a legitimate chance to end up signing Rodgers. He could end up with the Steelers, New York Giants, or Minnesota Vikings.
All three of those teams can offer Rodgers a great opportunity. However, at this stage of his career, Rodgers is likely looking for the best chance to compete for a Super Bowl.
If that is indeed one of his main priorities, Pittsburgh and the Vikings seem to be the two best potential fits.
That being said, the Steelers have received an interesting take about Rodgers from one ESPN analyst.
Pittsburgh Steelers Receive Interesting Aaron Rodgers Take from ESPN Analyst
ESPN analyst Louis Riddick spoke out with his thoughts about the situation. He thinks that the two sides need each other.
“To run it back with Russ, it’s just not good enough,” Riddick said. “They need to level up. Aaron needs them just like they need him.”
Landing with Pittsburgh would be a dream scenario for Rodgers. He would have both DK Metcalf and George Pickens to throw the football to. The Steelers are also loaded with other talent around the roster.
During the 2024 NFL season with the Jets, Rodgers proved that he still has the ability to lead an offense. The future Hall of Famer threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while also completing 63 percent of his passes.
Rodgers may not be the clear MVP favorite that he once was. Age has started catching up to him as well.
Despite those things being facts, Rodgers is the best option that the Steelers could find. Rodgers would also be joining a great situation for him to finish his career competing for a championship.
