The Pittsburgh Steelers need to address their interior defensive line, having released Larry Ogunjobi. Cameron Heyward, who turns 36 in May, has two years left on his deal, while four of their top six defensive linemen have one year left, clearly lacking long-term stability. Also, the Steelers could use a reliable run-stopper after struggling against the run in 2024.
There’s no better way of addressing your long-term needs than the draft.
Pittsburgh Steelers hosting All-Big Ten defensive tackle

According to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers will host former Oregon Ducks defensive tackle Derrick Harmon for a Top-30 visit on Wednesday. Harmon is considered one of the top defensive tackle prospects because of his ability to rush the passer consistently and his talent as a run-stopper. Many analysts have mocked him as a mid to late first-round pick.

He had a great tenure with Oregon

After spending the first three years of his college career with the Michigan State Spartans, Derrick Harmon transferred to the Oregon Ducks for the 2024 season. Harmon had a great redshirt junior year, which earned him a Third Team All-Big Ten selection. He recorded 45 tackles, 11 TFLs, five sacks, and two forced fumbles in 14 games. He also posted 55 pressures, a 17.6% pass rush win rate, 17 run stops, and a 7.1% run stop rate.
Here’s Lance Zierlein’s scouting report on Derrick Harmon

“Position-versatile building block that makes moving the football a much tougher task. Harmon is wide, long and naturally powerful at the point of attack. He can create traffic jams inside as a two-gapper or stunt and power his way into the backfield.
“He’s unlikely to be a primary sack man, but he can be part of a swarm unit that batters the pocket. He’s high-cut and tight-hipped, which limits his agility and reactive athleticism to finish. Harmon can play up and down the line in both odd and even fronts. He will bring an instant dose of stinginess and toughness to any defense he joins.”
