The Pittsburgh Steelers started Justin Fields at quarterback over Russell Wilson in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. Wilson was ruled out due to injury. Fields played well enough for Pittsburgh in an 18-10 win on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
He completed 73.9% of his passes for 156 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Justin Fields also rushed for 57 yards on 14 carries and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 4.1 yards per carry. Fields also did not score a touchdown in Week 1 on the ground against the Atlanta Falcons. One of the biggest helps for the former Chicago Bears quarterback is that Arthur Smith is his offensive coordinator.
Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Justin Fields To Start Week 2 Against the Denver Broncos
Many wondered if Justin Fields was going to start in Week 2 or if it was going to be Russell Wilson. On Tuesday, it was announced that Fields is going to be the Week 2 on the road against the Denver Broncos. This is a huge development for the Steelers. Does this mean that Russell Wilson’s injury is worse than initially thought or do they just want to ride with Justin Fields?
It remains to be seen how Fields will do during the second week of the season against the Broncos. Justin Fields was acquired via trade in the offseason from the Chicago Bears. As for Russell Wilson, he was signed as a free agent in the offseason after the Denver Broncos released him.

Interestingly, Russell Wilson will not start against his former team. This appears to be Justin Fields job to lose for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the remainder of the season.
