The Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers both feel like they have what it takes to return to the playoffs in 2024. The Eagles are coming off a season in which they started 10-1, but finished 11-6. There was a lot left on the field for the Eagles last season. The Steelers feel as though they can revitalize Russell Wilson’s career and finally be competitive for a championship run.
Now these two historic franchises are suddenly drawing trade talks surrounding an elite defensive player.
Pittsburgh Steelers And The Philadelphia Eagles Could Pull Off Massive Trade

of NFL Analysis listed four trades the Steelers should pursue, Darius Slay of the Eagles was on that list:
Darius Slay, CB, Philadelphia Eagles
The secondary is another place where the Steelers are in need of additional help. As far as the cornerbacks are concerned, the Steelers seem to have gotten a good one from the 2023 NFL Draft in Joey Porter Jr. However, there is not much quality after that.
The Steelers need to look for an experienced cornerback to play opposite Porter. Otherwise, they stand exposed to several receivers making big plays on their secondary. Pittsburgh does have Cameron Sutton, who signed back with them after a year in Detroit. The problem here is that he is suspended for the first eight games of the season due to a domestic violence issue.
Bringing in a veteran like Darius Slay from the Eagles could be ideal for the Steelers, especially if they are looking for a short-term deal. Slay has a proven track record and can be the answer to the Steelers’ deprived secondary.
Darius Slay, the veteran cornerback of the Philadelphia Eagles, finds himself at an emotional moment in his career as the team prepares for the 2024 season. As he enters his 12th NFL season at 33, Slay knows his time in the league is numbered.
Slay told NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro, “Not too many,” this spring when asked about his remaining years in the NFL. “I’m not going to just keep playing. I’m going to let these young guys eat. That’s what I’m here for, to make sure these guys get there. And when my time is up, it’s up.”
It would be interesting to see if the Eagles feel they’d get more out of Slay in the long term by trading him for a premium draft pick or two. The Steelers feel like they are in a “win now” mode with Wilson, and want to surround him with as much talent as possible on both sides of the ball.
